Family Don't End with Blood

Families come in all shapes and sizes. Everyone experiences family differently. The Supernatural fandom has taken to heart the phrase that is shown again and again in the show, “family don’t end with blood.” As I reflect on my life I see that in everything I have done. I have my Lair and Ball families always, but I have gained family in other ways throughout my life as well. I have Sheltered Reality family, Wartburg family, Waldorf family, Guyana family, Kuwait family, church family, and also I have the duck pond.

All of these different families take care of their own in different ways. I am so blessed to have a huge global family in my life who are always willing to support me no matter what I need. In sickness and sorrow, in joys and celebrations they are there to raise me up and I hope that I am doing the same for them.

One of my families is hurting greatly right now, and I am hurting with them as well. It is hard to be broken living so far away from them. I want to be there with them so that we can fix each other and be their constantly, however, my chosen career does not allow for that at this time of my life. We are still there supporting each other, except instead of being face to face we have to do it through a screen.

That has made things hard for me, but I will take any of it I can get. My Kuwait family has been stepping in to help me as well though. They have provided shoulders to cry on, listening ears, and countless hugs and I couldn’t be more grateful for the friendship and support. If any of you happen to be reading this I sincerely thank you for being here for me in my time of need.

My Supernatural family has also been a great support. We may not know each other in person, but I have become friends with quite a few of the Spn family online. That support blows me away. This group of people never ceases to amaze me. I look forward to actually being able to meet some of them at the convention in May and thanking them in person.

All of my families have reached out to me in my times of need, and I will never be able to thank all of you how I would like to. So please know that I see it. I see what you are doing, and I am thanking you from the bottom of my heart.

To the duck pond, I am here for you. If you need someone to talk to in the middle of the night but you don’t want to wake anyone up I am your girl. My middle of the night and your middle of the night are different. Thank you for reaching out to me and realizing that I am not okay right now, and struggling being on the other side of the world from you. Your calls, texts, and snaps are helping me to push through. I love you all so very much and wish I could give you all the hugs that you need right now. Please know I am sending all of my love and support from here and expect to see me when I get back stateside. It will take time, but we will all make it through.

Family is important in whatever way you define it. Find your family and love them. If you are far away from those you consider family I hope you are able to create a family unit where you are. Thank you each and every one of you for your continued support in my calling. I have exciting things coming up in the future and I look forward to sharing them with you, but for now I am going to sign off and continue to be there for those who need me right now.

Love,

Kelli
